Why we included this project

ChatGPT is a desktop wrapper that turns the web app into a proper native-feeling client for macOS, Windows, and Linux. It is built with Rust and Tauri, so it stays light on system resources next to Electron-based alternatives. The main conveniences are keyboard shortcuts, a system tray, and a notes-style layout for keeping conversations organized. Developers curious about how a cross-platform AI chat client is put together will find the codebase easy to follow. One honest caveat: OpenAI has since shipped its own official desktop apps, so this project is best treated as a reference implementation and a handy wrapper rather than something you should build a workflow around.
