Khoj is a self-hosted assistant that answers questions from your own documents rather than just from whatever the model happens to know. Point it at local files in formats like PDF, Markdown, or org-mode, connect it to an online or on-device LLM, and it bases its replies on your material. It also does more than chat: you can build custom agents with their own knowledge and tools, schedule automated research and digests, and run deeper web research. Since it can run entirely on your own machine, it suits people who want a capable assistant without sending private notes to a third-party cloud. If you already work in Obsidian, Emacs, or a browser.
