Why we included this project
ChatMLX is a native macOS chat client that runs large language models entirely on your own machine. Built on Apple's MLX framework and SwiftUI, it keeps every conversation local, so nothing you type is sent to a cloud service. You can load from several model families, including Llama, Qwen, Phi, Gemma, and OpenELM, and switch depending on the task. Because it targets Apple silicon, it makes good use of the hardware rather than calling a remote API. That makes it a practical pick for anyone who wants a self-contained chat interface without setting up a server or managing API keys, and the interface is localized into dozens of languages.
