Why we included this project

Most teams only see what their infrastructure costs after the resources are already running. Infracost flips that by estimating the monthly bill for Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation, and AWS CDK projects before anything gets deployed, then surfaces the number in the terminal, the editor, or the pull request. It also pairs those estimates with FinOps recommendations, so cost awareness becomes part of everyday code review instead of a quarterly budgeting exercise. The same engine feeds AI coding agents, meaning the check follows wherever your team actually works. For platform teams that want cost feedback to arrive alongside the review, this is a straightforward way to get it.
