Why we included this project

Linux users who want a ChatGPT client that isn't a browser tab will find this project useful. It is a community-maintained repackaging of OpenAI's official Linux ChatGPT desktop app, keeping the upstream Electron runtime, bundled codex and ripgrep, code-mode host, plugins, and locales, and leaving app.asar byte-for-byte identical unless you opt into extra features. It ships as .deb, .rpm, pacman, Nix, and AppImage builds with Wayland and X11 support. Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, Arch, and NixOS users can install and update through their normal package manager. The README also documents the build pipeline and feature matrix, which helps if you want to audit what the wrapper adds or build it yourself.
