Why we included this project
Trench is a self-hosted event tracking pipeline that pairs Kafka for ingestion with ClickHouse for storage, so a single node can take in thousands of events per second and still answer analytics queries in real time. Instead of committing to a SaaS analytics vendor, you deploy one production Docker image and start sending it the Track, Group, and Identify events the Segment API uses. It runs without cookies and is GDPR and PECR compliant, with controls that let users access, rectify, or delete their data, which matters when privacy rules are strict. That makes it a practical base for building product dashboards, observability views, or feeding usage data into an LLM retrieval pipeline.
