Why we included this project

BallonsTranslator is a desktop tool for automating comic and manga translation, aimed at fan translators and small localization teams who would rather not hand-edit every page. It runs text detection, OCR, inpainting to remove the original lettering, and then renders translated text back into the panels, attempting to keep the original color, angle, alignment, and layout. The built-in graphical editor covers the messy parts: rich-text formatting, text transforms, search-and-replace, and Word import/export. Its LLM-based translator can draw on earlier page translations and reusable glossaries, so character names and terminology stay consistent across a chapter. The project is upfront that output still needs human review, so it works best as a computer-aided assistant, not a fully hands-off translator.
