Why we included this project

Teams that want a single self-hosted place where everyone can chat with whichever model fits the task will find a lot to like here. The multimodal chat surface sits on top of a routing layer that sends requests across upstream providers, applies priorities and weights, and falls back or trips a circuit breaker when a vendor fails. Files and retrieval, MCP tools, usage billing, sign-in and identity, and audit logs all come in the same package, so an admin gets oversight without bolting several tools together. The modest resource footprint also makes it a practical pick for an on-premises deployment that keeps data in-house. It is a day-to-day chat app that still carries the operational guardrails an enterprise expects.
