Most chatbot projects start every session from zero, but Bitterbot is a desktop agent built around persistent memory: it carries context across conversations and keeps refining what it has learned while your machine sits idle, using a store that combines knowledge crystals, a knowledge graph, and periodic offline consolidation. It is not just a chat interface. It can browse the web, run code, and reach you through channels like WhatsApp, all on your own hardware rather than through a hosted API. That makes it a rare local-first option for anyone who wants a companion AI with durable memory and real tool use, not a stateless wrapper around an LLM.
