Why we included this project
Figwright is a local MCP server that pairs with a Figma plugin, so coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex can read a selection and turn it into framework-aware code that respects your actual layout, typography, variables, and components. The write direction is what sets it apart: the same tooling lets an agent create frames, text, auto-layout, styles, and whole screens back on the canvas, which makes it handy for iterating on designs from code rather than just consuming them. Everything runs on your machine, and because it talks to Figma through a plugin, you don't need the paid Dev Mode seat that the official MCP requires. Teams with an existing component library and design tokens will get the most out of it, since it reuses that stack instead of emitting generic markup.
