Why we included this project

Anyone who posts long videos to YouTube or Bilibili knows how much time goes into digging out the few moments worth sharing. AutoClip automates that pass: it downloads a source video (or takes a local upload), has a large language model read the content and flag the highlights, then cuts those into clips and can group them into collections you reorder by dragging. The stack is a React front end on a FastAPI backend with a Celery task queue, so the heavy work runs in the background and pushes progress over WebSockets rather than locking up the page. Solo creators and small teams get a self-hosted highlight pipeline they can stand up with Docker, and local file support means you are not tied to the platform downloaders. If your editing day is mostly scrubbing timelines for the good parts, this is the kind of tool that earns its keep.
