Why we included this project
Scira is a self-hostable AI research tool that turns a plain question into a cited answer. Ask it something and it plans a search across live sources, splitting the request into sub-tasks, pulling results from the web (including specialized modes for Reddit, YouTube, GitHub, academic papers, and stocks), and returning inline citations you can click to verify each claim. That planning step is what sets it apart from a simple Q&A chatbot. It's AGPL-licensed and supports bringing your own models and tools, so teams can run a private research assistant on their own infrastructure. There's also a scheduled Lookouts feature that monitors topics over time and emails you updates, which helps with ongoing market or competitor tracking without re-running searches by hand.
