Why we included this project

Deep learning has been applied to music for the past three decades, and this list is a good place to start reading that literature. It collects scientific articles, theses, and reports on the topic, from early chord classification and algorithmic composition to music information retrieval work like genre classification, beat detection, and audio generation. The selection grew out of a PhD state-of-the-art review, so it reflects one researcher's judgment rather than an automated scrape, and each entry links to the paper's PDF and its code when available. A BibTeX file and a tab-separated table let you pull the references into your own citation manager, and the task and acronym glossaries help newcomers decode the field's terminology. The project is unmaintained and last updated in 2023, so treat it as a snapshot of the field's foundations rather than a live index of the latest work.
