Why we included this project

The Model Context Protocol ecosystem has grown faster than anyone can track by hand, and this index is the community's answer to that. It collects hundreds of MCP server implementations and sorts them into functional groups, so someone wiring up an agent can find an existing integration for a database, a browser, a file system, or a search tool instead of writing the glue from scratch. The project stays current thanks to a large contributor base, which matters here because the ecosystem churns quickly and an outdated entry can send you down the wrong path. It is a discovery resource, not something you deploy, but for teams deciding which servers to adopt it makes the survey part of the job much shorter.
