Why we included this project
Wegent is a self-hostable system for running AI agent teams, with a desktop workbench, a browser-based web platform, and a backend that ties them together. The desktop app keeps local coding work organized by project and task, pulling the conversation, tool activity, tests, changed files, and diffs into one view, and it can point a coding agent like Codex at your local codebase. When a single machine is not enough, the backend connects the same projects and tasks to remote executors and a web interface, so a small team can share project spaces, permissions, and knowledge without handing data to a third party. Agents are built from reusable prompts, skills, knowledge, and tools, which makes it easier to standardize routine work across the team. It suits developers and small teams that want an orchestration layer for agents rather than a single chatbot or a bare framework.
