Why we included this project
Your X/Twitter bookmarks can pile up fast, and once they do, Siftly is a practical self-hosted way to make them useful again. It imports your bookmarks locally via a bookmarklet or console script, no browser extension needed, then runs a four-stage pipeline that extracts entities, reads image thumbnails, and generates 25-35 searchable tags per item. That lets you find posts by meaning rather than exact keywords. Everything stays on your own machine by default, and AI calls only go out to whichever API you configure. The mindmap view is a nice way to see how your saved interests connect, and the export options (media download, CSV, JSON, ZIP) make it easy to move data out when you need to. It suits developers and privacy-conscious users who want a local-first knowledge base for bookmarks instead of another cloud subscription.
