Why we included this project

Director treats video work as a conversation. Instead of wiring up separate tools to clip highlights, summarize long recordings, search a media library, or assemble a finished cut, you give the framework a natural-language instruction and a reasoning engine figures out which of the 20-plus built-in video agents to call and in what order. A command like 'find the funniest scene and share it on Slack' turns into the right upload, detection, clipping, and delivery steps on its own. The pieces are swappable: bring your own LLM, register custom agents, and hook up external generation or storage services, then run the whole thing locally or push it to your cloud. Teams storing footage in VideoDB get the closest integration, since Director is built on that infrastructure, but anyone building agentic media workflows will find the chat interface and orchestration a faster starting point than assembling pipelines from scratch.
