Why we included this project

Kaneo is a self-hosted project management app built around the idea that a tracker should stay out of your way rather than become a second job. It covers the familiar workflow, from boards and projects to tasks, comments, labels, and time entries, in a clean interface and runs as a single container, so a team can keep its planning data on its own infrastructure without much setup. What makes it interesting for AI work is the Model Context Protocol support: a built-in server at /api/mcp plus an npm stdio package let assistants like Claude Code and Cursor read tasks, move cards between columns, assign work, and update statuses directly against the tracker. If your team already lets agents touch issue data, this is a straightforward path from a conversation to a recorded, tracked task.
