Why we included this project
Trigger.dev is a TypeScript platform for AI agents and long-running background work, and its main selling point is that tasks simply don't time out. Where Lambda and other serverless platforms kill long processes, Trigger.dev keeps them alive with retries, queues, and idempotency built in, so an agent step that waits on an LLM call or an external service can run for hours unattended. It slots in next to the agent frameworks and LLM providers you already use, and handles deployment, scaling, and environment management itself. The human-in-the-loop support matters for agents that need approval mid-run, and the realtime streaming hooks make it easy to show agent progress in a frontend. If you've hit Lambda's timeout ceiling while building AI workflows, this is a purpose-built alternative worth trying.
