Why we included this project
Skales takes a different approach to personal AI agents: instead of a server you have to stand up, it installs like a normal desktop app on Windows, macOS, or Linux. Give it a goal and it keeps working on files, browser, calendar, and email in the background, even after you close the window. It is local-first in practice: bring your own key from one of 15+ providers or run fully offline with Ollama, and your data never leaves the machine. That makes it a realistic option for non-developers who want autonomous multi-step tasks without Docker or a terminal. One honest caveat: the repo distributes the signed product and holds a historical source snapshot rather than a maintained source tree, so treat it as a place to learn about features, report issues, and get releases rather than to build from source.
