Why we included this project

Post-production editors who want to offload the repetitive parts of a cut will find a practical use for this MCP server. It connects the Model Context Protocol to DaVinci Resolve Studio's scripting API, so a chat agent can drive timeline edits, media pool organization, render setup, review markers, grading, Fusion, and Fairlight work from clients like Claude Desktop or Cursor. The server also ships a local browser control panel for inspecting session state and running source-safe analysis before anything is committed to the timeline. Because it wraps the official API in guarded workflow helpers rather than guessing at internals, automation behaves predictably, which matters when one wrong tool call could disturb an hours-long edit. A setup script handles the environment and client configuration, so getting started involves less friction than most video integrations.
