Why we included this project

Yank Note is a desktop Markdown editor that pairs everyday note-taking with heavier technical writing without locking you into a proprietary format: everything lives as local Markdown files, so notes stay portable and easy to move between tools. Version history and per-file encryption cover the files you want to protect, and documents can embed diagrams like PlantUML and Mermaid. The AI Copilot is an add-on rather than the selling point: it connects to OpenAI, Ollama, Gemini, and similar providers for text completion and generation, so you bring your own model and key. The Monaco editing core feels familiar to anyone who uses VS Code, and a plug-in system lets you extend behavior with JavaScript. One caveat: Yank Note deliberately trades away some security for extensibility, so only open Markdown files you trust.
