Why we included this project
This project started as a hackathon demo that went viral in early 2025, and it is still one of the clearest public looks at what machine-to-machine voice calls could become. Two ElevenLabs agents chat in English about booking a hotel until one recognizes the other as an AI, then both switch to ggwave, a data-over-sound library by Georgi Gerganov, and the conversation continues as a chirping audio protocol that is much cheaper to transmit than human speech. The repo provides an API for that handoff plus a browser demo that works across two devices, which makes it useful for anyone building voice agents or call-center flows who wants to see how machines could skip spoken language entirely. Treat it as a proof of concept rather than production software, but the handshake logic and the working demo give you a real template to study instead of just a video to watch.
