Why we included this project

OpenOcta (八爪鱼) is a desktop AI agent that runs on your own computer rather than in a chat window, with direct access to your files, terminal, browser, and local projects. It installs by double-click: the project ships as a single Go binary with the Control UI embedded, so you're set up in about 30 seconds without assembling a Node or Python toolchain. You give it natural-language instructions for everyday work, whether that means summarizing email into a weekly report, digging through alert logs for IT operations, drafting marketing copy for domestic channels, or reading a repo to list what changed. It's built with the Chinese ecosystem in mind: WeChat, DingTalk, and Feishu work for dispatching tasks remotely, and domestic model providers like Moonshot and DeepSeek are supported. A four-level memory system and a local Knowledge Vault let it accumulate your preferences over time, while an MCP-based skills market extends its capabilities on demand. Because everything runs locally, session data and memory never leave your machine, which is worth having if you plan to keep an agent on all the time。
