Why we included this project

OpenMinis is a native iOS and Android app built around the idea that an agent should do real work on your phone, not just hold a conversation. You connect your own accounts or API keys for the model providers (Claude, GPT, Gemini, and others), and the agent gets a sandboxed Linux shell on your device where it can install packages, run scripts, and work with real files. It also automates the browser and can reach device features like Health, Calendar, Contacts, and HomeKit, with extensible skills and persistent memory across sessions. The README demonstrates this with concrete scenarios: photograph a meal and have it logged to Apple Health with estimated calories, or trigger a Shortcut that summarizes your X timeline and reads it aloud. Because the project is free and fully open source under GPLv3, you can read the agent runtime and build your own automations on top of it without vendor lock-in, though you supply the model keys yourself.
