Why we included this project
OpenDataCam is a practical tool for turning camera feeds or video files into live object counts and trajectories. It detects and tracks common objects like vehicles and people, then lets you set up virtual counters through the UI or API, so every crossing gets tallied automatically. That suits traffic studies and surveys that need structured numbers, like modal-split or turn counts, rather than just a pretty visualization. The Docker-based setup runs on anything from a Jetson Nano to a GPU server, and since the detection models are swappable you can retrain for objects it doesn't recognize out of the box, while keeping full ownership of the data you collect.
