Why we included this project

This is a hand-curated index that sorts the AI tooling space into practical buckets, from API providers and cloud platforms to local LLM backends, chat UIs, code assistants, autonomous agents, vector databases, and evaluation tooling. Rather than pointing at a single tool, it gives you a structured starting map when you are trying to figure out which project actually fits a given job, for example comparing Ollama, llama.cpp, and LocalAI for local inference, or scanning the LLM framework and evaluation sections before committing to a stack. Each entry links straight to the underlying repository with a short plain-language description, so you can quickly shortlist candidates without wading through dozens of separate GitHub searches. It is a reference and discovery resource rather than something you deploy, but for developers and small teams doing early tool selection it saves real time by having everything in one browsable table.
