Why we included this project

Olive is a free open-source NLE that covers Windows, macOS, and Linux from one C++ codebase, with OpenGL hardware acceleration keeping playback and effects responsive. Editors who want full control over their cuts without paying for a commercial suite get that here, and the single codebase means a solo creator or small team can keep the same workflow no matter which machine they sit down at. The node-based editing system under active development points toward a compositor-style future where complex sequences are built as connected graphs rather than fixed tracks, which appeals to people who think in terms of pipelines. It's still alpha software and the project is upfront that it's highly unstable, so Olive suits testers and early adopters more than professionals on a tight deadline.
