Why we included this project

ScreenToGif fills the gap between a quick screenshot and a heavyweight video editor. You pick a region, a webcam feed, or a sketchboard to record, then trim the frames in a small built-in editor before exporting as GIF, APNG, video, PSD, or PNG. That makes it genuinely handy for support staff attaching a bug clip to a ticket, educators annotating a lesson as they capture it, or anyone who needs a plain loop for documentation. It is a native Windows application built on .NET, so it stays light and does its work offline rather than streaming your screen through a browser to a paid cloud service. The project has been maintained and updated for years, which is why it keeps showing up as the dependable default when people just want a recording to convert.
