Why we included this project

This is a curated reading list for anyone researching or building LLMs that take on a persona, whether that means playing a fictional character, a celebrity, or a demographic profile. The papers are grouped by angle, with sections for character role-playing, demographics, personalization, multi-agent setups, and anthropomorphic cognition, so it is easy to jump straight to the work relevant to your approach. The maintainers also published a companion survey, 'From Persona to Personalization,' which is a good entry point for newcomers. They are upfront that the list centers on character role-playing and does not try to cover every adjacent field like multi-agent systems or long-context models, which makes the scope easier to trust than a generic catch-all.
