Why we included this project
Public-facing Nginx servers collect a steady stream of junk traffic: spam referrers, scraper bots, fake Googlebots, and assorted malware and adware. This project packages maintained blocklists for bad user-agents, spam referrers, and malicious IPs, plus rate limiting for anti-DDoS work and a Fail2Ban jail that catches repeat offenders. The install and update scripts fetch the latest lists and wire the includes into your nginx.conf and vhost files, so a few commands take you from a bare setup to a filtered one. Because the lists refresh on a schedule, it works as a solid baseline to layer your own rules on top of. Teams running public-facing Nginx, especially WordPress sites, get junk traffic cut without having to build the filtering logic themselves.
