Why we included this project

Editly is for anyone who wants to generate finished videos from code rather than assembling them by hand in a timeline editor. You define the cut declaratively, listing clips, images, titles, transitions, and music, and it renders the output on top of ffmpeg while handling scaling, aspect-ratio fitting, framerate conversion, and audio mixing. Because it edits as a stream instead of writing full intermediate files, it stays fast and light on disk even with 4K sources, which helps when you're producing at scale. The CLI works well for quick slideshows or promos, and the JavaScript API lets you drive rendering from an application or content pipeline. If you batch-produce social cuts or templated branded videos, this is a solid scriptable foundation, and it remains open to custom Canvas, Fabric.js, and GL shader screens.
