Why we included this project
Glean is a self-hosted RSS reader that also tries to organize what you save from the web, with OPML import and export, folders and tags, a read-later queue, and bookmarks that work for both feeds and arbitrary URLs. Feeds update themselves in the background, everything runs on Docker, and the web UI is paired with a separate admin dashboard for user accounts and system monitoring. It even ships an MCP server, so other tools in your stack can talk to it. The honest caveat is that it is still in active development and not battle-tested production software, and the AI parts people might come for, like recommendations and automatic summaries, are planned rather than finished. For someone who wants a self-hosted base to build on instead of trusting a third-party reader, that makes it worth watching.
