Why we included this project
If you already keep your notes as plain Markdown files and want the same structure to serve both you and your AI tools, IWE is worth a look. It turns a folder of linked notes into a knowledge graph: a real language server in VS Code, Neovim, Zed, or Helix handles search, rename, autocomplete, and refactor, while a CLI and an MCP server expose the same graph to agents. Claude, Codex, Gemini, or anything that speaks MCP can pull context by following links and hierarchy instead of guessing at similarity. IWE ships no AI of its own, stays fully local and git-versioned, and the Rust core indexes 20,000 files in under a second, so it works as a durable, human-editable memory layer for a personal knowledge base.
