Why we included this project
Agents that need to produce real Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files often end up stitching together several Python libraries. OfficeCLI avoids that by shipping as a single binary that reads, creates, and edits .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx through a DOM-like path system, so an agent can add a slide, change a formula, or restructure a table with one command. The built-in HTML rendering engine is the standout feature: it converts documents to HTML or PNG so the agent can see its output and correct it, which text-only tools can't do. It runs without an Office installation and works with coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot, with the skill auto-registering to cut most of the setup friction. For teams automating reports, proposals, or presentations end to end, it's a practical choice.
