Why we included this project
WitNote pairs a fast, distraction-free Markdown editor with an optional AI assistant that runs through Ollama or a cloud API. You can use it to translate a passage, explain a tricky sentence, or polish your prose, and none of your notes ever leave your disk. The dual-pane layout renders GFM and LaTeX as you type, so writers, researchers, and students see formatting and math live without the tool getting in the way. The AI help is there when you need it and easy to ignore when you don't, which is a refreshing change from heavier all-in-one platforms. If you keep your notes in local folders and care about privacy, this is a clean, honest option worth a look.
