Why we included this project
obsidian-ollama is a plugin that runs Ollama inside Obsidian, so you can get help from a local language model without leaving your notes. Select some text or a whole note, and the plugin sends it to Ollama and drops the generated response back at your cursor. It ships with ready-made prompts for summarizing, explaining, expanding, rewriting in a formal or casual register, and captioning, but you can also define your own prompts and set the model and temperature per prompt. Since Ollama runs locally, your notes never have to leave your machine for editing help. That makes it a good fit for anyone who keeps research notes, meeting minutes, or long drafts in Obsidian and wants on-device assistance with writing.
