Why we included this project

Most AI assistants write passable prose but have no real sense of how an economics paper is supposed to be put together. This skill fixes that by loading the distilled advice of more than fifty economists and writing guides, from Cochrane and McCloskey to Goldin and Kremer, into a single file that Claude Code and OpenAI Codex can use directly. Instead of improvising from a chat prompt, the assistant follows concrete formulas for each section, and the guidance adapts to whether the paper is applied, theoretical, or structural. It also covers the parts of academic writing that generic assistants tend to fumble, like laying out an identification strategy, checking citations so references are not hallucinated, and matching journal-specific formatting for AER, QJE, and Econometrica. For PhD students, researchers, and faculty working on job market papers, grant proposals, or revise-and-resubmit responses, the drafting, review, and audit modes offer a structured starting point, with the final call on content still left to the author.
