Why we included this project

zenfeed sits in a useful middle ground between a plain RSS reader and a fully automated news bot. It is a self-hosted Go service that pushes every incoming article through configurable processing stages, so you can give a language model your own prompts and have it score, classify, summarize, or drop items from your feeds. On top of reading, it can send scheduled daily digests, watch for specific events and notify you by email or webhook, and act as an MCP server so AI assistants can query your curated information directly. Since the whole pipeline is defined in config files and exposed through RSS and query APIs, it is a good fit for developers who want a personal news engine they actually control rather than another closed feed app.
