Why we included this project

Machine-translating a visual novel with a raw LLM prompt tends to produce flat, inconsistent text that loses character voices. GalTransl wraps GPT-4, Claude, Deepseek, Sakura, and similar models in a prompt-engineering pipeline tuned for narrative games, and its GPT dictionary teaches the model character names, pronouns, and terminology so names stay consistent across hundreds of lines. It also handles more than the translation call itself: companion projects unpack and repack game scripts, and the tool directly translates subtitle and other text files. The desktop GUI means you do not need the command line, and caching plus resume-after-interrupt makes long patch projects more practical. That combination is useful for hobbyists and small teams who want a machine-translated patch that reads better than the usual output.
