Why we included this project
This tool is for the specific situation where Cursor locks you out of the editor after flagging your device ID. It rewrites the telemetry machine identifiers Cursor keeps in its global storage file, generating a fresh random ID after backing up your original config. Windows, macOS, and Linux are all covered, with a dependency-free Python script that runs on Python 2.7+ or 3.x as well as separate shell and batch scripts for each OS. Worth knowing it clears the lock condition rather than whatever triggered it: the README warns that repeated attempts may require deleting and re-registering the account, and that using the tool can violate Cursor's terms of service.
