Why we included this project

This reading list tracks transformer-based methods across the main medical imaging tasks, from segmentation and classification through reconstruction, registration, synthesis, and clinical report generation. It grew out of a survey the authors published in Medical Image Analysis, and the entries are ordered chronologically and grouped by task, which makes it easy to see how vision transformers have moved through radiology and pathology research. Where a paper has a public implementation, the list links to it, so it works as a shortcut to reproducible codebases rather than just an abstract index. Researchers and engineers scoping a medical imaging project can use it to survey prior work and check which transformer architectures have already been tried for a given task.
