Why we included this project
EMQX is an Erlang-based MQTT broker that scales to millions of concurrent connections with sub-millisecond latency. It speaks MQTT 5.0 and translates other IoT protocols like CoAP, LwM2M, and MQTT-SN through gateways. A SQL rule engine filters and transforms data in flight, and connectors for common databases, message buses, and AI services let you route streams into your pipelines without hand-written glue code. That makes it a strong fit for teams running predictive maintenance, connected-vehicle telematics, or smart-grid workloads who want a self-hostable messaging backbone rather than a turnkey analytics product. One caveat: since v5.9.0 the project uses the Business Source License, so check the terms before commercial deployment.
