Why we included this project

Eigent is a desktop app that runs AI agents locally, an open-source alternative to commercial cowork tools like Claude Cowork and Codex. You can set up a multi-agent workforce where a master agent coordinates specialized sub-agents, turning complex multi-step workflows into automated tasks that stay on your own machine. It is model agnostic and supports MCP and custom skills, so you can keep using the models and tools you already have instead of getting locked into one vendor. For teams that want agentic automation without sending sensitive work to a cloud service, local deployment is the main draw. It is built on the CAMEL-AI project, so developers who know that ecosystem can extend it.
