Why we included this project

CookHero is a self-hosted cooking and diet assistant that pairs a recipe library with an agent that can act on it. Ask for a low-fat, high-protein dinner and the ReAct agent turns that into a weekly plan, logs what you eat, and estimates calories and macros from a photo of your plate. Retrieval combines vector search, keyword matching, and reranking over the built-in recipe corpus plus recipes you add yourself. A Tavily-backed web search pulls in current information. The subagent system and MCP support let you extend the toolset, and RAGAS evaluation plus LLM usage dashboards show how well answers hold up and what they cost. It is aimed at kitchen novices, people tracking fitness or blood sugar, and families who want more than a static recipe site.
