Why we included this project
PortalJS suits teams that publish open data and want a live portal without standing up a heavy platform around it. You describe the site you want, a city open data portal for instance, and Claude Code skills assemble a working Next.js app with the three surfaces any data portal needs: a home page, a searchable catalog, and a dataset showcase that renders previews and charts. Adding data works the same way: drop a CSV or JSON in, or point it at a CKAN or git-backed source, and the showcase updates without hand-editing pages. What it generates is plain, editable Next.js with a pluggable data provider, so nothing locks you in. Prefer to skip the agent? A bare template gives you the same result by hand.
