Why we included this project

Motion designers and video editors who want to offload repetitive After Effects work to an AI assistant can use this MCP server to connect the two. It turns After Effects into a set of standardized commands, so a connected assistant can build compositions, add text, shape, solid, camera, and null layers, and animate them by setting keyframes or applying expressions. Setup is straightforward: you install a small bridge panel inside After Effects, point an MCP client such as Claude or Cursor at the server, and the assistant's commands get executed by the panel. That covers batch edits, placeholder motion graphics, and multi-layer builds without writing ExtendScript by hand each time. Teams already comfortable with MCP tooling will get the most out of it, since the project assumes you can wire up a client and manage a Node.js build.
