Why we included this project

Instatic bundles the whole lifecycle of a self-hosted site into one Bun server: the visual canvas editor, content engine, media, auth, forms, plugins, and the static-page publisher all run in the same process, so a team that would normally stitch together a headless CMS, a framework, and several hosted services can run everything itself on SQLite or Postgres. The output is plain semantic HTML and compact CSS with none of the editor's runtime left behind, so pages load like static files because, most of the time, they are. The built-in AI agent is what separates it from a conventional CMS. Describe what you want in natural language and it constructs real, editable nodes on the canvas through the same import pipeline used for pasted markup, with separate tool scopes for building pages and editing content, and it accepts your own model, from Claude and OpenAI to OpenRouter or a local Ollama instance. Developers and small teams who want a self-hosted alternative to Webflow, Framer, or WordPress get an agentic editor that still ships clean, view-sourceable pages.
