Why we included this project
ReadAny is a cross-platform e-book reader for people who want more out of their library than keyword search. It handles EPUB, PDF, MOBI, and AZW3, and layers semantic search and retrieval-augmented chat on top: ask a question about a book and you get an answer that points back to the passage it drew from, even when you can't recall the exact wording. Embeddings and the vector index run on your device, so your library, highlights, and notes stay private and keep working offline, while WebDAV sync keeps annotations in step across desktop and mobile. You can plug in OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Ollama, or a custom endpoint for the model. It's an end-user reading tool rather than a library, so it suits avid readers and developers who want a personal reading companion more than teams looking for infrastructure.
