Why we included this project

Omi is a fully open source personal AI companion that runs on a wearable, your phone, desktop, or in the browser. It watches your screen and listens in on your conversations, then turns what it captures into searchable transcripts and summaries, with a chat that remembers everything you have seen or heard, which makes pulling action items out of a meeting painless. If you would rather build your own second brain than rent one, the repo ships the whole stack: real-time transcription, speaker diarization, memory search, an app marketplace for custom tools, and an API plus MCP server for connecting it to your existing workflows. Because the hardware, firmware, and software are all open source, it also works as a hands-on reference if you are prototyping a wearable or ambient-recording AI product rather than just consuming one as a service.
